Questions about your trip
Pickup, children, what to wear and what happens when the river is high. For getting to Bharatpur and choosing a month, see Visiting the Narayani.
Where do your trips start?
In Bharatpur. We pick you up from your hotel there, or from Bharatpur airport. If you're staying further away, ask us and we'll arrange transport.
Do I need a national park permit?
No. Our trips stay along the river and in the villages and forests outside the national park, so there are no park fees.
How long are the trips?
From a three-hour evening ride to a full day, plus one overnight stay at the Amaltari homestay. Each trip page shows the times.
Can a trip be private?
Yes. Any trip can be just for you. Tell us when you book or enquire and we'll confirm the price for a private guide and vehicle.
Are the trips suitable for children?
Yes. The walks are on flat ground and none of the trips are physically demanding. Children must stay with an adult near the water.
What happens if the river is too high?
In the monsoon the river can rise quickly. If a part of a trip isn't safe, we change it for something nearby or move your trip to another day.
What should I wear?
Light clothes in muted colours, closed shoes and a hat. Bring a warm layer from December to February, and cover shoulders and knees for Devghat.
How do I pay?
You can pay by card online when you book, or wait for our confirmation email with other options, including a 25% deposit by bank transfer.
Can we combine trips?
Yes. A morning at Devghat and an evening cycle on the waterfront fit into one day. Ask us and we'll plan it.
